The Pakistan cricket team toured Australia for a 3-match Test series, a 5-match ODI series, and 1 Twenty20 International from 19 December 2009 to 5 February 2010.[1]

During the final ODI match, the stand-in captain, Shahid Afridi, was involved in an alleged ball tampering incident, when he was seen biting the cricket ball.[2][3][4] He was immediately called by the match referee after the match was over. There Afridi pleaded guilty to ball tempering and he was banned from two Twenty20 Internationals[5]

During the Twenty20 International, Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait bowled the fastest delivery ever recorded in Australia (160.7 km/h).[6] Tait achieved the feat on the second ball of his first over. It is also the third fastest delivery ever recorded behind Brett Lee and Shoaib Akhtar.[6]

Australia registered a clean sweep by winning the Test series 3-0, the ODI series 5-0 and the only T20.

During the tour, speculation was rife that captain Mohammad Yousuf was involved in a power struggle with former skippers Younis Khan and Shoaib Malik and that team morale was low.

Following the tour, the Pakistan Cricket Board conducted an inquiry and announced that Yousuf and Younis would not be selected for the country in future, implying a life exclusion, and banned Malik and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan for a year each. Afridi and the brothers Umar and Kamran Akmal were all fined and put on probation for six months.[7] Kamran had been dropped after the second Test because of a string of dropped catches, but spoke out against the decision and insisted that he was not dropped, while Umar was accused of disruption by feigning injury in an attempt to go on strike in solidarity.

The Australian cricket team is the national men's cricket team of Australia. It is the joint oldest team in Test cricket, having played in the first Test match in 1877 (defeating England by 45 runs).

As of 20 January 2010, the Australian team has played 718 Test matches, winning 51.87%, losing 20.87% and drawing 26.98% of its games.[1] It has a winning record against every other Test nation.[2] The Australian national cricket team has also led the ICC Test Championship table for the majority of the time since the creation of the ICC Test table system in January 2001. The South Africans did lead this table for a brief period from January to May 2003[citation needed], before Australia resumed the first position on the table. Australia has since dropped down to fifth in the Test rankings (as of 24 November 2010).[3]

Australia have made six World Cup final appearances and have won the World Cup four times in total; 1987 Cricket World Cup, 1999 Cricket World Cup, 2003 Cricket World Cup & 2007 Cricket World Cup. Australia have also won the ICC Champions Trophy twice - in 2006 and in 2009 - making them the first and the only team to become back to back winners in the Champions Trophy tournaments. Australia also have been the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup champions in 1988, 2002 and 2010. Australia were runners-up in the ICC World Twenty20 in 2010 (which was won by England).

As of 28 April 2007 they are undefeated in 29 consecutive World Cup matches. They have led the ICC One-Day International Championship table from its inception through to 18 February 2007[citation needed], and then again from 7 April 2007 until 30 January 2009.[citation needed] In 2002, they were named World Team of the Year at the Laureus World Sports Awards in recognition of their world record sequence of Test match victories.

Paragliding is an awesome flying sport that allows a pilot to navigate his or her way through the air using a tiny aircraft. Many people paraglide as a recreational activity, while others practice paragliding as an extreme competitive sport. Basically, a pilot will sit in a harness while suspended below a huge fabric wing. Shape is given to the wing by suspension lines and air pressure. After years and years of development, paragliders are now sleeker and perform better than ever before. It is amazing to think how the equipment and gear used here can enable a person to fly.

The main piece of equipment is the wing or canopy. It is made of a layered fabric connected to supports. Special design allows air to flow in through vents and inflate the canopy. The wing is what will capture the air pressure and wind and allow you to soar up into the air. Of course, to do this you will need some other equipment as well. For storage and transportation of the wing and other gear, you will need a big rucksack. Besides the wing, you will need to attach yourself to it with cables and a harness. You can buckle yourself securely into a comfortable harness that allows you to sit while keeping your feet on the ground for takeoff. The harness should always be connected and checked before flying to prevent an accident. An extra reserve parachute should also be connected to a paragliding harness.

Once you are all set with this equipment, you will need some other instruments to make sure your flight goes smoothly. A variometer is useful for monitoring atmospheric pressure. When paragliding, a variometer will help the pilot find rising and sinking air streams to maximize flight levels. A radio is also useful for communicating with other paragliders or members of your crew that need to know about landing zones and any accidents that may occur.

Speaking of accidents, you should bring along a GPS locator to monitor your flight patterns and to help retrieval teams find you if you should go off course and get lost in an unfamiliar area. This may seem like a lot of equipment, but you never know when you are going to need it if you are paragliding. It is an extreme sport, and this calls for extreme caution. There is no doubt that it can be a lot of fun to fly using a paraglider, but it is always a good idea to take the necessary steps to ensure your safety as well as the safety of others.
